Beneficiaries of international protection of pensionable age
A person who has applied for international protection in Estonia and has received a decision on granting international protection from the Police and Border Guard Board and a residence permit for Estonia is entitled to health insurance. A person meeting these requirements must:
- live in Estonia
- be of retirement pension age
- not work
- not receive pension granted in Estonia
Data for the commencement of health insurance is submitted by the Social Insurance Board. Additional information can be found here.
Insurance will commence upon making the entry into the health insurance database.
Insurance will be terminated after one month when the conditions that give the right to health insurance are not met.
You can check the validity of your health insurance in the service ‘My current account with the Health Insurance Fund’ of the state portal eesti.ee, by phoning the Health Insurance Fund’s customer service (+372) 669 6630.
